  • Just arrived at what might be South Africa’s best-kept secret — @MorukuruFamilyDeHoop, and it honestly feels like stepping into a dream 🐚✨

This private beach lodge is tucked away on top of giant sand dunes, with uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean stretching endlessly 🌊.

From the moment we arrived, we’re surrounded by the raw, wild beauty of the De Hoop Nature Reserve — with rolling fynbos-covered hills, dramatic coastlines, and some of the best whale watching in South Africa 🐋.

There’s something magical about being completely off the grid, yet wrapped in barefoot luxury. Best of all, it’s designed with families in mind. Think sandboarding, snorkeling, wildlife safaris, candlelit dinners under the stars, and waking up to the sound of whales just offshore.💙

This has definitely been the best place we’ve stayed in South Africa!

  • We just spent several adventure-packed days in beautiful Plettenberg Bay, and here are our lil girl’s favorite activities! 🧭✨

🐘 Walk with Elephants – At the Elephant Sanctuary, we got to meet Marula and Thandi, where we could touch, feed, and even walk trunk-in-hand with rescued elephants. An unforgettable, educational encounter!

🐒 Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary – Swing into a forest full of monkeys, lemurs, and gibbons roaming freely. Kids will love spotting different species up close (no enclosures/railings here!).

🦭 Swim with Cape Fur Seals – Hop on a boat and snorkel with playful wild seals in their natural ocean habitat. It’s safe, guided, and SO much fun for confident little swimmers!

🌊 Sanctuary Beach — Have a lazy beach day at the area’s most beautiful strand, Sanctuary Beach.

🏹 Forest Archery Fun – Head into the forest for a mini Robin Hood adventure. Guided archery sessions let kids (and adults!) test their aim in a magical outdoor setting.

  • After years of traveling with my family and working from Airbnbs and cafes… here are the realest things we’ve learned as a digital nomad family.

Spoiler: It’s not always easy. But it’s given us a life richer than we could’ve imagined. 🧭💬

1️⃣ Flexibility > Perfection

Travel days don’t always go as planned. Flights get delayed. Meltdowns and tantrums. Wifi crashes. But learning to flow has become our family superpower. ✨

2️⃣ Kids are way more adaptable than we give them credit for

New beds, new languages, new routines—they adjust if we hold the space for them. Watching our kid thrive outside the traditional system? Life-changing. 💪🌱

3️⃣ We need less than we think

Living out of our suitcases has taught us how little we actually need to be happy. More stuff = more stress. Less stuff = more freedom, clarity, and presence. 🧘‍♀️🧳

4️⃣ Home isn’t a place

Whether it’s a beach hut in Mexico or a cabin in Patagonia, we’ve learned that “home” isn’t a place. Home is wherever my family is. ❤️

5️⃣ We’ve redefined time

My husband used to work 9 to 5, and I would squeeze in as much time to work, always chasing weekends. Now, we work less, but accomplish more. And we have more time to explore, connect, and just be. 🕰️🌅

👣 This journey isn’t for everyone—but if your heart is tugging toward a life of more freedom, connection, and adventure… consider this your sign.

Drop a 🌍 in the comments if you’re dreaming of the digital nomad life, or share which lesson resonated most with you 👇

  • The highlight of our Garden Route roadtrip so far has been hiking in Robberg Nature Reserve. This spectacular peninsula jutting out from Plettenberg Bay truly offers some of the best coastal hikes in South Africa. 🌊⛰️

We were blown away by the views of the dramatic cliffs, seal colonies and panoramic ocean views that go on forever. The trail took us up craggy cliff faces, down giant sand dunes and on the rugged coastline. Plus it’s family-friendly and doable with kids! 🏝️🦭

🔖 Bookmark this for your next trip to the Garden Route!

Trail options and estimated times

🥾The Gap Circuit:
A 2km to 2.1km easy loop that takes approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. Offers views of the coast and a historical cleft.

🥾The Witsand / Island Circuit:
A 4.7km to 5.5km moderate loop that takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to hike. (We did this!) It adds a climb to a sand dune, views of a seal colony and an extra loop round a small island.

🥾The Point Circuit:
The longest, a 9km to 11km round trip that takes 3 to 5 hours. This goes to the tip of the peninsula, requiring scrambling over rocks.
