  • Last week, the Mexican military killed a cartel leader in the Jalisco region. Violence erupted across Jalisco, with fires all over Puerto Vallarta. A shelter-in-place order was issued within the region.

The situation lasted a few days, and normal life has resumed in most parts of Mexico. I have many friends currently in Mexico City, Oaxaca, and Puerto Vallarta and they are all reporting that life is back to normal these days.

We lived in Mexico for 4 years and saw firsthand how Mexico is far safer than what the news will tell you. What’s been portrayed in the news this week, is not the reality most Mexicans live every day. 🇲🇽🌮🫔

Cartels are not having shootouts on the streets of Mexico City. In Oaxaca, there are more celebrations than murders. The Yucatecan city of Merida is considered safer than any city in the United States.

I don’t diminish the violence. But not all of Mexico is dangerous and more often than not, tourists are not the target. So if you’re wondering if you should cancel your upcoming trip to Mexico m, I urge you to go and see for yourself. Mexico is not a scary place that it’s made out to be.

  • We’re back at our homebase in Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦 ! The weather’s still looking glorious and the view is spectacular no matter where you look.

It’s my favorite city in the world for good reason! 🌎 Sadly it’s our last few months here ( heading to our next destination in May for work); we’re feeling kinda sad to leave but also making the most of our remaining time here.

Here are some awesome spots we’ve discovered recently that are featured in the reel:

🗻 The Rock: easily the best sunset views
🍳 Our Local Kloof St: a lush cafe n brunch spot
🍹 Aperitif: a hip cocktail bar with excellent sandos
🚪 Bo Kaap: the colorful Cape Malay district
🍷 Zevenwacht wine estate: for delicious well-priced wine and green fields
🛝 Curious kids festival: held this weekend

Before she turned one, she’d already been to the Maldives, Cyprus, Norway, US, Poland, Hungary, UAE and Jamaica as a baby. I can’t believe how crazy we were!

  • Have you been? ✈️🌊🇸🇬 Part of the fun of going home to Singapore is flying into Changi Airport!

World’s biggest indoor waterfall, rooftop pool, butterfly park, canopy park… it’s all at the Changi Airport. I honestly don’t think there’s another airport more fun than Changi.

Much of the fun is concentrated in Jewel, a mall attached to the Singapore Changi Airport just outside arrivals hall in T1. So you actually don’t have to be catching a flight to hang out at Jewel.

Seriously there’s so much to see and experience at Changi Airport, I highly recommend getting to the airport early for your flight!
